Many of you guys saw the video of this little girl. Ghufran has a disease called ichthyosis & she is not receiving any kind of treatment.. There is now a Gofundme to help her & her family leave the Gaza strip so she can get properly treated.

What's cool about reading a brilliant, scathing review of a big new release in Australia is knowing that, as well as putting in hours and hours of work and risking their writing career, the reviewer will earn about 300 bucks. We really need to figure out how to pay/be paid here.

I still can't get over the knowledge that JKR used her initials instead of her name because she wanted people to assume she was male to sell more books. Once she was a billionaire she took on another pseudonym, also male.

I've read the first chapter of this and I need to shout about it already. An absolutely wonderful cast of three-dimensional disabled characters with difficulties to face but also fabulous hobbies and talents too ✨

You don’t have to be doing something amazing with your life to mean something. You matter to the world, you matter to somebody, you matter to yourself.

The thing is, we need disabled stories which show every experience. Yes, it's great to have stories where disabled characters can do anything despite their disability. But we also need stories which show that disabilities can bring difficulties. Because that's the true reality.

Meanwhile people still can't afford to eat properly. How much time do you think we have when poverty has bad health outcomes?

Just realised I've been writing about disability online for over 10 years. Holy shit man so much has changed since then. There's so many more of us writing and talking about our experience. Unfortunately it's the same old ableism but it's also a stronger fight back

was just so late getting to my own show that I ran past a lady trying to scan my ticket who said, “are you here for Grace Jarvis?” and I had to say, “I am Grace Jarvis, there was traffic”

In light of *that* announcement today, I’d like to remind folks of some middle grade books which have authentic disability & chronic illness representation from authors with lived experience.

And where disabilities are NOT used to portray villains.
