The 'outside agitator' is classic agitprop + projection. King demystified it for us in his 'Letter from Birmingham Jail.'

More needless violence ⁦UT Austin⁩ today. More aggression by state, city, and campus police. We learned nothing from last week.

I just saw some rando dude help a cop set up a bunch of zip ties for arrests. After, they fist bumped and the dude walked away.

Cop has a bag full of zip ties now. Imagine being that rando.

Classic Burke opening: To begin with a question that undercuts the stability of his own theses. Burke and Cavell wrote in a way that welcomed conversation. They *thought* on the page. I LOVE that.

One of the ways protesters have stopped sprinklers from spraying themselves

They’re now chanting “water is life”

UT Austin faculty, please consider signing this open letter of no confidence in Jay Hartzell who has not only fired workers on a mass scale in response to political pressure, but who endangered all of us this week by militarizing our campus.

Denis Johnson's sonnet, 'White, White Collars.' So much in it *shouldn't* work, and the marvel is that it does, 'rising with the government on its lips,' dribbling secret names, everything riding that 'spray of light' from the dance floors.

A last thought for the night. I walked down Speedway at something like 4:15; there was no trace of the protestors, and it was business as usual in Gregory. What did linger, however, was a fair amount of shit from police horses.

This was the view from my classroom window tonight. The Country Music Award sound checks earlier this term were far more disruptive than the protestors, that is until the police showed up and started corralling.

After the police left, the students reclaimed their campus and gathered together for the planned peaceful teach-in. The massive police presence and arrest of dozens of students was so unnecessary.

I held class two blocks away and was unaware of anything unusual until I heard helicopters. The main disruption would appear to have been the police response.
