Delighted that my latest solo-authored piece from my PhD on why governments take unpopular decisions is finally out in Representation tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10… I confirm that political decision-makers do misjudge public opinion, but in particular the salience of unpopular decisions

Amanda Blanc's resignation letter & badass follow-up email in the review is the most stinging thing I've read in a while. Coherently spells it out to the blazer brigade but allows her rage to cut through. A hero for lasting as long as she did at an org entrenched in misogyny

This is interesting: will the opportunity to attack Cameron and Sunak as unelected mean that Lords reform will form a bigger part of Labour’s election campaign? Had previously looked like it was slipping fast down the priority list for a Starmer first term…

Very normal thread below this, particularly enjoy the idea that if Kate Middleton told us to then me and all the women I know would suddenly decide to have a baby. That’s what’s been stopping us really, we thought she wasn’t in favour until this point.

Much of value in this important new piece. This really sticks out: 'one of the most shocking findings of this research is that so little has been done to remedy in some (any) way the gender bias in student evaluations ... illustrated in peer-reviewed political science research'

This government failed women in the pandemic. As someone who was pregnant throughout, I didn't need MacNamara to confirm what was blindingly obvious. Not being allowed birth partners for all of childbirth whilst people were allowed at pubs and football matches was horrific.
