No kid should ever go hungry, in the North, or anywhere in Canada.

As part of Budget 2024, I was in Iqaluit to announce a new National School Food Program—a $1B investment to provide meals to 400,000 more kids every year in Indigenous communities, in the North and across Canada.

I was proud to work with the NDP, alongside leading advocates like Breakfast Club of Canada, to push for the National School Food Program.

As a former educator, I know how hunger impacts a child’s learning.

It is a good day for education and a good day for children and families.
