The HPV vaccines are the most effective prevention. The vaccines are tested, safe and cost-effective, and have been shown to offer protection that lasts a long time against cervical cancer. Nigeria, introduced the single dose Gardasil 4 vaccine.

2. HOW DO WE KNOW IF WE HAVE HPV INFECTION OR CERVICAL CANCER?
Cervical Cancer is caused by certain HPV types. Initially it shows no signs and symptoms, but can later manifest with abnormal vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain etc. HPV infection can be detected through lab tests.
