One for the modellers & net zero dunkelflaute-solving analysts. Well…more of the flaute, less of the dunkel.

GB’s April wind average of 3.9GW included 19 consecutive days of low wind <5GW ave (<20% cap factor) & 9 consecutive days of very low wind <2.5GW ave (<10% cap factor).

Pleased to be joining European & networks & appliance manufacturers today at launch of an evidence & positioning paper into EU policy thinking. Low disruption, maximum flexibility, least cost & lowest cumulative emissions across the system.

Good to see such progress on decarbonisation. Fits with Wales&West Utilities vision perfectly. Now being recognised more as the least cost and least disruptive plan for Net Zero.

Marginal carbon intensity of GB electricity applicable to new/transferred demand like electrified heat is ~610g/kWh. This needs factoring in - and building regs fail here. Good news is that hybrids can be optimised with a minimal live COP to guarantee lowest carbon heat.
