DYK: Firefighting gear contains a cancer-causing chemical called PFAS.

This week #Vancouver Council approved $2.8M to Vancouver Fire Rescue Services for PFAS-free bunker gear, to keep our crew safe.

Cancer is the leading cause of deaths in the Canadian fire service. That has to change. 🚒🔥

This is a really concerning decision.

(And another example of a major decision made by a last minute ABC amendment, that the rest of us had no info about before the vote.)
