This month 100+ Carter's volunteers joined our 'Turn The Page' event helping create book kits for elementary students across 28 schools, decorating book marks and picking books that will encourage summer reading and boost literacy scores among at-risk youth. Thank you Carter's!

CIS of Atlanta has partnered with Clayton State University to provide wrap-around support to alumni making the leap to campus life. The partnership will serve as a model for helping CIS of Atlanta alums succeed in post-secondary environments and graduate with minimal to no debt.

Our Herman J. Russell West End Academy Site Coordinator Eric White puts the 'i' in kind! White says Communities In Schools of Atlanta plays an important role for students in a variety of ways. 'My role helps fill a crucial gap, offering guidance, support and stability.'

Valia Spencer-Phillips, Site Coordinator for Decatur High School, says her students need stability, support, reassurance, guidance, real-talk conversations, and someone to hold them accountable for their good and bad actions and reactions.

CIS of Atlanta has announced a partnership with City Schools of Decatur to provide wrap-around support services to disadvantaged students at Decatur High School, Beacon Hills Middle School, Talley Street Upper Elementary School and Clairemont Elementary School.

Each year our students participate in the national Read Across America celebration, fostering a love for reading.

Students from L.P. Miles Elementary School were treated to special guest storytellers, including Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Danielle Battle.

We took a group of CIS of Atlanta high school students from all school districts the organization serves in the metro Atlanta area to visit Charleston, South Carolina. Students toured the College of Charleston campus and visited the International African American Museum.
