This has been in the works for a while, but I just sued the Yale Police Department for failing to comply with the Freedom of Information Act--they've stalled for months after I requested documents pertaining to their surveillance of pro-Palestine students.

I know the Al-Arian family & I know them to be people of integrity & principle. Several of them are journalists who have won the highest awards. The guilt by association smearing of their mother is unacceptable. She lost 200 relatives in Gaza.

Here's the scene at the pro-Palestinian / antiwar protest at UC San Diego. A protest organizer said their goal, in addition to having the university speak out against the war and divest from companies supporting it, is to keep attention on the suffering of families in Gaza.

Update: most of the kids want to be YouTubers and people who make self driving cars 🫣

The teacher asked if I can come back and talk them out of being YouTubers 😂

Tomorrow, I am going to 9yo’s class to talk about my “career.” It is “career week.” 9yo made this as an activity for her classmates in case I start saying “cringy things” — she plans to take over.

At a meeting of chairs, Pres. Beilock offered no accountability for why local police ended up calling militarized state police. It was as if she delegated a small task and it was then out of her hands.

SUNY Purchase Encampment was raided last night only a few hours after it was set up.

As the sweep was underway, someone set the fire alarms off in the dorms, possibly to bring every one outside to watch and record the arrests.

As I outlined yesterday, so-called “frat boys” (read: racist counter-protesters) across the USA were sent a very clear signal by UCLA leaders:

Show up, get violent, and when the cops leave you alone the university will use *that violence* as an excuse to shut down the protest:

Just got an email from he NYU president to the NYU community claiming they forcibly removed protestors OUT OF RESPECT TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD and I am in medical danger of an injury from rolling my eyes.

Respecting the neighborhood would be REMOVING YOURSELF, you necromaniacs.

To my journo friends, on World Press Freedom day, especially the one's like me working from relative safety in Canada.

I am angry at the state of journalism, and I am angry at the forces standing against us, but I am also angry at our lack of collective fight.
