Your regular reminder that the North Sea basin is in structural decline, the UK taxpayer subsidises oil/gas extraction with £bns every year, the industry has made huge profits off the gas crisis, and the only route to jobs and lower bills is an ambitious green investment plan.

The Security Council just approved a long-awaited resolution on Gaza, demanding an immediate ceasefire, and the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.

This resolution must be implemented. Failure would be unforgivable.

Where O&G industry is right: the transition is not at all inevitable, and tech innovation isn't nearly enough in face of cheap O&G and massive incumbent industry. As ever, it requires policy & leadership.
