Working people internationally need to build mass movements for socialism, for a world in which working people can democratically control its resources for the sake of humanity and the planet — not for profit, and not for genocidal wars.

Our movement needs to fight for workers' needs, not the dictates of big business. The fight for these demands needs to be linked to the rejection of capitalism, a system that will continue to breed war, bloodshed, and destruction as long as it exists.

We also call on the rank-and-file of the anti-war movement to join us and others in building mass rallies outside the DNC this August.

SA has circulated petitions in multiple cities calling for the “uncommitted” campaign to continue through November, with votes for either Jill Stein or Cornel West, who are both left, anti-war candidates, as a step towards the building of a new party of working people.

Beyond the primary, we think the people who voted “uncommitted,” and those who didn’t vote in the primary election at all and all who agree about the need for a new party for working people, should organize to win the biggest possible independent left vote in November.

We think that activists in states that have not had the primary election yet should still fight for the largest possible “uncommitted” vote, as a vote against both Biden and Trump.

Socialist Alternative has supported the campaign for “uncommitted” votes against Biden and Trump in states across the nation.

The entire Democratic Party is complicit in the ongoing genocidal war in Gaza, as are the Republicans. We need a new party for working people that is anti-war, anti-oppression, and genuinely accountable to working people.

Most importantly, both the Democrats and the Republicans are parties of capitalism, war, and imperialism, and will continue to put ordinary lives at risk, with hot wars becoming increasingly likely in the new context of the New Cold War between the US- and China-led blocs.

Mental health crises among veterans have exploded, with an average of 20 veterans committing suicide every day.

These crocodile tears are belied by the fact that both the Republican and the Democratic Parties have, for decades, presided over criminally underfunded veteran services, leading to stunning increases in veteran joblessness and homelessness, while billionaires have become richer.
