January 2023 will go down as the warmest in NYC since records began in 1869. There was zero accumulating snowfall reported. Temperatures were above-average on all 31 days of the month.

With zero measurable snowfall through today, NYC will break a long-standing record for the latest first measurable snowfall in a winter season. The previous record was January 29th, 1973. Today is also the 33rd consecutive day with above-normal temperatures.

I think the really complicated feeling I have right now is that this guilty verdict perhaps begins to satisfy my innate human desire for retribution, but it does nothing to satisfy my need for justice.

Real talk: there was once a warrant for my arrest for nearly a year that I had NO idea about because a jury duty notification didn’t reach me in my mid-20s. Having a warrant for your arrest doesn’t mean you’re a bad person.

The majority of people killed by police in America are killed in response to mental health calls, traffic infractions and other low-level offenses. Police killed 121 people during traffic stops alone last year.

I'd like to stop reading elected officials ask protesters to continue to be peaceful and start reading them asking police to not brutalize protesters. Also to stop killing Black people.
