Why do we grade student assignments instead of making them revise and resubmit until they are satisfactory?

This - is the US could build subways and hospitals as quick and cheaply as Europe, we'd be much richer. If Europe hadn't embraced austerity after the GFG and been more generous after covid, they would be much richer. Important not to act like these are tradeoffs

Was asked to fact-check this post and others claiming a minimum 'social credit score' is required to charge a car.

Signs clearly say that people with 550+ in the Wechat payment app's loyalty rewards scheme are entitled to charge before paying.

I prefer discount perks, myself.

I hate this genre of tweet because it frames lack of European growth as an intentional tradeoff for welfare instead of a recent macro policy failure, thereby excusing it

As if having a better subway network is the reason the German economy hasn’t grown in 5 years. Ridiculous

Noah missing the point of the criticism.

1. He claimed there is a 'social credit score' (there isn't)
2. He claimed a 'social credit rating' could be dinged by missing a dinner reservation (it can't)
3. He proposed his friend's Sesame Credit score is social credit (it isn't)

The reason we need manufacturing isn't for direct job creation. The 1940s are not coming back.

The reason we need manufacturing is for A) defense, B) clustering, and C) local multipliers. Most jobs created by manufacturing investment will be in service industries.

I love how like all of my software has gotten worse. New Teams? Terrible. New WhatsApp desktop? Incredibly slow - crashes constantly. What a wonderful future we live in
