£10 TO SAVE A LIFE: my godson Rycroft very sadly died aged just 16 months last June. Rycroft’s parents, my dear friends Catherine and Andrew, are looking for 747 generous people to give just £10. Thousands of people have already donated, Catherine and Andrew are roughly 90%...

Even at 4 months old, Ry worked out very quickly how to flick or tug his NG tube out. If you'd told me, two years ago, that I would be trained to insert a 60cm tube down my child's nose and into his stomach umpteen times a day I would have run a mile. But I did. He needed it.

The thing going up Rycroft’s 👃 is called an NG tube. Pretty sure I didn’t know what they were for before he had his

He needed it because he had a very rare condition called SDS. That’s why we’re raising money for @CharitySDSuk.

My very dear friends lost their little boy last year, and in the face of such sadness are raising money to help other families going through the same kind of awful thing.

Rycroft and Jumble - best friends forever 💙

Jum was always very protective over Ry. It's probably a cliché but we think she knew when he was gone as she was very subdued in the weeks that followed his death. They were only 3 months apart in age, and had a very special bond.

Thread about Rycroft, and the difference between sadness and despair, which I never really thought much about before we lost Rycroft, and now I think about it often.

It's a month to go until the deadline for our fundraising goal in memory of my baby boy - so many people have already supported us, but if you could spare 5 seconds to retweet this thread and the fundraiser link today and help spread the word, that would be amazing 🙏

When we think of Rycroft, we feel sadness but we do not feel despair.

Rycroft only got to celebrate one birthday, and it was in hospital.

In February, we will mark his 2nd birthday in the same place, Colchester Children’s Ward, and we want to hand them a cheque for £20,000 in his memory, so they can continue to help other children like him.
