Okay then. Who’s going to focus on the need for creators of new work that is more than text based, old school writer focussed but more process led, made, form & cross form based practice & work?! There’s an increasing turn away from supporting this work, these artists.

Such a goddamn relief! With the drying up of commissioning, co-pro investment, a massively challenging touring landscape, venue deals lower than 2 decades ago & lack of funding literally #TTR #TheatreTaxRelief is the only way many of us can create new theatre shows & tour work!

The thing is commissioning has gone, trusting artists, taking a punt, believing in & experimenting has gone. Maybe it’s the economy, the funding climate, the pandemic, Brexit. But maybe it’s none of these things. Maybe we just need visionary courageous curators & champions?!

Hannah was a very brilliant theatre maker, artist, producer, peer, enabler & supporter of so very many. She was also a very dear friend & collaborator with so very many. Her loss will be felt deeply. It was a privilege to have known her & see the brilliant things she created.

FFS - Annual shouting at computer screen dealing with funder template excel sheets where you can’t freeze or unfreeze cells to be able to see a full spreadsheet on a laptop. How are we still here despite ALL of the complaints about inaccessibility & administrative timewasting?!
