At long last: Finally, I overheard someone say 'Pythagorean theorem' on the street. (And in the exact same context that I would have used it!) Two teens--arguing about whether to take the bus east and then the subway south, or just cut diagonally through the ravine on foot. :)

It was bound to happen sooner or later. I finally got purple hazed by the transcription software!
