Greatest telly show I’ve been watching in Texas: Moonshiners, a master chef rip-off for distillers where one of the judges is constantly shirtless. Would love to know if he arrives shirtless or if the producers insist on it.

A little nod to Peter Higgs, to mark his passing. I interviewed him at Cheltenham Science Festival a few years ago, and asked him to sign this silly note, which he was delighted to do! There are only two of these in existence (a certain other Irish comic has the other). RIP.

Ah, very sad to hear that. A lovely man; carried his enormous achievements with quiet humility but with tremendous good humour. RIP.

The main thing I learnt at the eclipse is how many Americans absolutely love Taskmaster.

Some sense of the darkness in Austin as we approached totality. Not a clear view of the sun, and then for about 5 seconds the clouds parted and it was amazing. Also, the lights automatically came on in the skyscrapers! Great to see it amidst a crowd.
