Admin-
This month, instead of doing walkthroughs, do tag outs. Go to a teacher’s classroom, take over, & send them to walkthrough the rooms of their peers.
They will learn more from them than you.
You will learn more from teaching than preaching.

It may be the 4th quarter of the school year, but remember the prevent defense often leaves points on the table.

Keep up the work that got you here and remember, these are the last weeks you will ever have to influence the lives in front of you now.

You got this!

Lasting change rarely happens from instantaneous transformation.

First seek what can be abandoned.
Then search for what can be adapted.
Then, if necessary, look for what can be adopted.

Abandon> Adapt> Adopt

When people say that teaching is like a marathon they often forget that running the marathon is the easy part.

It’s the daily training, the early mornings, the constant discomfort yet rising every day to do it again…that’s what a marathon is all about.

Same for good teaching

Today is the second best day to start saving for Christmas.
The best day was last Christmas.

It’s not a surprise. It comes every year.

Plan ahead.

Chasing a test score does not create a path to success.

Chasing character, perseverance, compassion, curiosity, collaboration, and conviction will result in lasting learning, which will translate into test scores and greater long term success.

Chase what matters.

One thing I know about myself is I always have to have a goal I am striving for:
Finances
Fitness
Scholarship
For 40 years every goal was about making myself better.
For the last 6 years the focus has shifted. It’s now about making you better.

The irony is I am now better too.

Just had a call with a principal who asked if we could sign an “intend to commit”.
In essence, we save the dates, plan the content, and decide in the next 60 days how the contract will be paid…Title 1, Title 2, Gen Fund, etc..

Love it. Planning with purpose!!!

Working with five alternative schools in Palm Beach. Many of the students in these schools have been kicked out, dismissed, and forgotten.
Blessed to work beside change makers who have empathy, support, and a vision for growth.
Imagine walking in their shoes…

Repetition is an effective strategy for low level recall.
Repetition is an effective strategy for boredom.
Boredom is a hindrance to high order thinking.

Choose your strategies wisely.

Specific and actionable feedback is a key to growth…
HOWEVER
There is a strong correlation between using rubrics with 22+ indicators to label teachers as effective or ineffective and a major down turn in teacher satisfaction and retention.
