I used to think that identifying Little Brown Birds was hard, but then I discovered Invertebrates...
Three months of photographing insects and spiders in my garden (and my bathtub), over 1k pictures, and I think more than 50% of them remain unidentified.

My latest spider-find has been tentatively identified as 'Centsymplia glorious'. If correct, that would make its range 'The slopes north of Brisbane, and David's bathtub which is 700km south of there'.

Yet again, I have come to the inevitable conclusion that the morally correct amount of birds that should exist in nature is 'unsettlingly abundant'

🧵There's a myth repeated by both the left and right that we don't have records of what Nazis destroyed in the book burnings. Historians know some but not all of the literature. Much of it discussed queer/trans issues. Here are some examples of what Nazis didn't want you to know:

Labor has just announced another $50.3bn in the defence budget across the next decade.

Keep that in mind when they say they 'can't afford' to build more homes or lift people out of poverty.

Normally, I wouldn't interfere with a spider's web, but I have a soft spot for mantids, so when I found this Snake Mantis tangled up in some old house spider web around my window, I just had to help it out.

A different group of Gang-gang Cockatoos visited today. This adult male posed beautifully in the later afternoon sun.

I was lucky to have worked on the new set! Mostly on creatures, mounts, and a LOT of saddles. This guy was inspired by basilisks and good ol' banyard roosters. I'm very interested in the construction of saddles for non-equine animals.

We had Gang-gang Cockatoos visit again today!
It was a family of four (two parents and two juveniles), but I was only able to get a good photo of the mother.
