Explicit vocabulary instruction is an important part of structured literacy.

I'm adding to my bank of picture book lesson plans with this one, based on the beautiful new book Hana's Hundreds of Hijabs by @razeenareads - lesson plan free for all to use!

Never forget that it's far cheaper to give unhoused folks a place to live than leave them on the streets to depend on a patchwork of emergency services.

No seriously. If your students are cosplaying as pilgrims and Native Americans in celebration of this upcoming holiday:

Don’t. It’s racist and it’s a lie.

2022 is a good year to not perpetuate racist lies.

Ontario is in trouble. ⬇️ From education to healthcare, we are failing our children.

No amount of school catch-up payments or gas tax cuts can take our eyes off the emergency right in front of us.

We should be investing in our schools & hospitals, & the people who work there.

If you are a CUPE Ontario member who is on strike (or the partner of a CUPE member or shopping on behalf of a CUPE member), shop at Reimagine and we will give you $25 of free groceries.

Goodnight to everyone but especially the healthcare workers who are SO DAMN TIRED of this pandemic. I know the pots and pans thing didn’t last long but please know there are still many of us that appreciate the hell outta you.

CUPE education workers are people with families and include parents struggling to make ends meet. We need to aim our anger at those hoarding wealth, not those fighting for scraps. Shame on this province for failing those most vulnerable.

If your local municipal candidate tells you that they will maintain (or improve) services while also freezing (or lowering) taxes, I'd suggest that they either fundamentally don't understand how council works, or are intentionally promising things they can't make happen.

If u are a trustee candidate in this election & u are preaching political neutrality about things like trans rights & anti-racism, then u don’t understand our human rights obligation. Either you support human rights for marginalized students or you don’t. I know what side I’m on.

Imagine how different society would be if we fully funded what nurtures our society like education and healthcare, instead of what punishes folks like police and prisons.

Friends, The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (AKA, Orange Shirt Day) is not about getting an Elder into your class to discuss Residential Schools. Nor is it about getting an Indigenous Person into your class to talk about Orange Shirts and Reconciliation. This is your
