“Generational curses” in the Black community for me is the things we let slide, like abuse; rationalizing & minimizing the harm done instead of acknowledging & addressing it. I don’t believe folks behind me need to endure the harm I did, unfortunately that’s a rare belief.

Calling survivors and folks who think domestic abuse is wrong “shea-butter Twitter” is actually so weird to me because y’all act like it’s supposed to be some gotcha to have human decency. Coping to feel better about the stuff you let slide and condone.

A faction of old heads treat abuse as some “it’s just a fact of life type of thing,” trying to normalize & rationalize it because they think acknowledging it makes them a “victim.” When they actually are survivors & should not want the next generation to be repeating such cycles.
