The General Sherman Tree. By volume, it’s the largest living tree on Earth and is estimated to be 2,500 years old!

Despite their importance old growth forests continue to be logged globally. It's time to protect the irreplaceable.

Night Thoughts

If we planted a million of these beautiful trees, we could shade and cool about four billion four hundred and fifteen million square meters of land, not to mention the benefits of CO2 storage and groundwater regulation.
Just to mention that πŸ’šβ˜˜οΈπŸŒΏπŸŒ±πŸŒ²πŸŒ³πŸ€πŸ’š

This thing everyone talks about called 'transition' is, as far as I am able to understand, a point at which the three biggest color bands here, the brown, the black, and the light blue, shrink to nothing, and other bands replace them entirely.

Amazon’s plastic packaging waste alone could encircle the globe 500 times: buff.ly/39H6cqB. We need to do better.

Use less, buy less, waste less.

Happy Earth Day from Chicago!

Yesterday, our fleet of nuclear plants generated ~119% of electricity demand.

Every minute of the day was over 100% nuclear.

Let's acknowledge the real reason we're protecting the environment.

It's not to save the earth, it would go on without us.

We're protecting it for us, Humans, so that we can thrive and continue to enjoy the abundant beauty that is the natural world.

Nuclear energy has always been an existential threat for the fossil industry. The latter are so happy with the 100% RE bros spreading confusion, closing nuclear power plants and frustrating building new ones, as it means they'll stay in business for many more decades.

β€œDeath by entertainment” is the most accurate description for a civilisation who has decided to consume, emit, and dance its way to self-destruction.

Solar and wind can help us cut our emissions the next few decades, to an extend, but not to zero and never towards a growth of humanity's energy consumption. Furthermore, for industry you need reliable and dispatchable energy. Solar and wind are inherently unable to deliver.

Energy efficiency is a great thing, but can only get us so far, the point is to think BIG in how we're going to deliver clean energy to the masses. Nuclear energy is, in the long run, the only energy source that can deliver.
