13 years after Syrians took to the streets demanding change to life w/freedom, dignity, justice, & equality, they still aspire to that despite all the calamities they endured & continue to endure, wherever they are, inside #Syria or abroad.

A year after February 6 earthquake, many Syrians are still in dire need for aid to address the losses, this is on top of needs due to 13 yrs of violence, displacement, & shelling; this comes at a time when int'l pledges for humanitarian aid for #Syria have significantly dropped.

Watching the arguments made by 'Isr@el' today in the ICJ, all I could think about is the mockery of the legal profession that took place in that courtroom. I am appalled as a legal professional and as a human being.

In 3 mos #Israel killed 100+ journalists, killed +25K ppl, displaced +1M, bombed schools & hospitals, & US says no evidence of genocide, despite plenty of it articulated in South Africa's submission to ICJ.
This is the world in which the peoples struggle for dignity & freedom.

Strong and important step by South Africa, with this filing in the ICJ against 'Israel' on the basis of committing genocide in Gaza.
No impunity for war crimes and crimes against humanity, even by those who always act like they're above the law.

For those still talking about ridiculous concepts as 'self-defense' (no such thing for an occupying force, look it up), where does killing 92 journalists, killing nearly 20K civilians, making +25K kids orphans, and displacing over 1M fit into that discourse? #Gaza #Palestine

When a member of Security Council (tasked w/preserving int'l peace & security) vetos resolution calling for immediate HUMANITARIAN ceasefire, we should have a lot of questions, we should rethink the current system, and we should be very angry.
It's MORAL FAILURE to say the least.
