The show is better than the books in this regard

I watched Fallout and am reading Three Body Problem and whilst I’ve enjoyed both they lack interesting or developing characters. I’ve seen a lot of books lately which focus more on world building and concept in this way and it always leaves me dissatisfied

I know I’m late to the party but what a truly wonderful book ‘The Final Year’ is.

I was scared that it wouldn’t live up to the hype but it soared above it.

Matt Goodfellow, your book is without doubt, one of the best books I’ve ever read (alongside Skellig)!

I’m in Manchester today, hoping to catch the rain. It’s supposed to be splendid this time of year and such a rare occurrence that I’m determined to stay awake for the entire day just in case

Early stroll. Drizzle keeps making the same point over and over again. Streetlight turns that old tree into one of Macbeth’s witches. A car indicator’s clockwork orange. A man cycles splashily through a puddle. That alley has taken a delivery of malleable darkness.

I had some thoughts about knowing what children want to read. And then I shared a poem I loved as a child

Give me the Moon where there’s nothing left to tidy. No trees to rearrange for the perfect view, no rivers to redirect to slice the valley just so. Give me airlessness and grey so that only my thoughts can flower the land.
