The parser had a few deficiencies:

1. It was, ironically, harder to maintain.
2. The parser generator supported a limited grammar, so we had to fight it to support latest Python syntax.
3. Performance was suboptimal, with no room to optimize.
4. Error recovery was unsupported.

Hurdle #1 because you won't have any wheels you need to install from source. the pallets team fixed I bug I raised last time, so MarkupSafe works now (thank you), but pydantic-core is upset with me for trying 3.13. PYO3_USE_ABI3_FORWARD_COMPATIBILITY=1 env it doesn't compile

Alright. Ready to have another go at a PEP703 web server now that the GIL can be switched off in main. I'll be testing Flask, Django and FastAPI🧵

Amazing achievements

Ruff v0.4.0 is out now.

We've migrated from a generated to a hand-written recursive descent parser.

It's >2x faster, and leads to something like a 20-40% improvement in lint and format performance in real-world projects.

The Astral team wrote a new parser for ruff, and this thing is blazing fast ⚡
Parsing is twice as fast as before!

와 2주째잖아요. 맥북 쓰던 사람들은 적응하면 리눅스 랩톱도 별 문제 없이 쓰는 것 같습니다..
유일한 장벽이 국내 메신저인데요. bottle(와인)이 잘 지원되서 아무 문제 없이 쓰는 중..
단점은 리눅스를 안드로이드로 오인식하는 사이트들인데 이건 유저 에이전트 스위처로 회피하는것 빼곤 괜찮음.

그나저나 OpenAI가 일본 오피스를 만들다니, 역시 기계학습 연구에서 일본의 위상은 여전하네요. 한국이 이런 오피스를 유치하기엔 아직 국제화가 부족한 것 아닌가 하는 인상입니다.

어제 dnf update로 커널과 펌웨어를 올렸더니 idle시 소비전력이 10w미만으로 떨어지는 기적.. 이제 좀 밖에서 쓸만해졌습니다..ㅋㅋㅋ 대충 8시간 사용 가능..

📝 메타의 스레드, 모놀리틱 아키텍처 사용

스레드를 5개월만에 런칭하기 위해 모놀리틱 아키텍처를 사용했고, 5일 만에 1억명의 사용자가 몰려드는 것을 수용할 수 있었음.

사용된 기술은 커스텀 버전의 Django와 PHP, 데이터 저장소로는 TAO/UDB/MySQL와 ZippyDB 그리고 피크 타임을 위한 서버리스
