How much time and money was wasted on this mumbo jumbo and near useless WHO report?
Playing with words instead of admitting errors, learning from them and adapting policies & IPAC protocols to ultimately prevent more infections, save lives & prevent Long Covid.

This is an essential read to understand why “droplet transmission” dogma was/is such a huge problem and why people put a fight to *officially* recognize COVID as an airborne pathogen.

With apologies for the paywall. I wrote this commentary for PNASNews

I think the role of scientific uncertainty in pandemic decision making is overstated. Things get complicated because we lack values consensus, at least behind closed doors.

. It always has been.

120 years we should have known this. Be generous say 80). We should have been prepared for it, but experts mangled the science so we aren't ventilating.

Short thread of threads.

$2,400/YEAR for the Canada Disability Benefit is a joke.

Families who have loved ones with Down syndrome struggle to even qualify for the Disability Tax Credit.

This is also a joke.

The UCP's Bill 18 is such a blatent & politically motivated assault on academic freedom & free inquiry that it doesn't seem real.

Does the government fear knowledge this much? Do they fear the light that research and free inquiry brings to democracies?

Yes, the peer review…

In an Italian study of 10,000 classrooms, moving from natural ventilation to 2.4 air changes per hour (ACH) reduced infections by 40%, 4 ACH reduced infections by 66.8%, and 6 ACH reduced infections by 82.5%.

This should be our chance to champion reductions in missed days, while improving academic performance at the same time. It would further help with plans to address staffing shortages.

Instead, we see schools having the operating hours of their ventilation systems decreased.

Taking this as another opportunity to remind Calgary Board of Education that I will personally borrow $5,000 and give it to Calgary Board of Education to help with paying for HEPA or CR-boxes for every room in every school.

It will ⬇️ student & staff illness, slow community spread viruses, & improve learning.

Edmonton Public Schools have installed HEPA filters in every classroom. Calgary Board of Education has not, citing that their schools were already mechanically ventilated. From January to June 2023, Edmonton experienced 20% fewer absences due to illness.

Why has the Department not considered that improving air quality, ventilation rates, and filtration not only have been shown to reduce absenteeism due to illness, but also have repeatedly been shown to improve academic performance?

Why has the Department not considered the research cited in that report - research from the CDC and U.S. EPA , the Health Canada and PHAC , and the World Health Organization (WHO) - which suggest increasing ventilation and adding supplementary filtration should be considered for all spaces?
