Building new habitats can sometimes seem like a bleak task in winter. In spring, the work is all worthwhile. The new habitat hotzone @theleasidetrust in #hackney is now beginning to buzz with life. Congratulations to all those who made it happen. Leaside

Hackney's parks are the remnants of fields, hay meadows, and market gardens where bees and butterflies once flew in abundance. The Hackney Buzzline pollinator corridor seeks to recover some of the area's natural heritage and pass it on for future generations to enjoy.

Daubeney Fields is the smallest Hackney Buzzline park with the highest natural habitat v mown grass ratio. GiGL has records of 8 bee, butterfly and moth species but we recorded 14 more there last year. We're now creating a richer pollinator heritage thanks to The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
