They used to be the only entrance! Imagine climbing those 70 steps every time! 😮

But fear not if you haven't visited yet. There was later an alternative route created to the top with no steps involved!

#OTD in 1811, there was a mass escape of 49 French prisoners from the castle. Escaping through a hole in the wall, which you can still see today.
