New research published in Nature today finds that we are on track for climate damages worth $38 trillion per year by 2050. This is a staggering figure. The damages are projected to be worth 6x more than the mitigation costs of limiting global warming to 2C.

I can't believe it. We submitted a paper on 10th April and today, 3 DAYS LATER, we got the peer reviews!! This is the quickest turnaround I've ever had. 🤯🤯🤯

I do think our biggest failure as a society is to not explain science properly - and I don’t mean teaching photosynthesis I mean teaching how scientists work. I see scientific language weaponised in anti-trans rhetoric too and it’s very clear those using it don’t understand it.

The BGS has been producing regular updates like this for over a century! It's a priceless dataset reflecting global trends in mineral production and associated societal trends.
