Yamaichi tankheads are most famous for their light but strong semi-ceramic armor plating. However, they also distinguished themselves with the frequent use of short-range rockets. This unguided and imprecise weapon offered a devastating first blow at short range.

Kai’s work from more than a decade ago, and one of my personal favorites. It cannot be overstated how much his work has influenced mine when I discovered it as a young artist.

When shaped charge technology was developed later in the Neverwar it was soon countered with specialized defenses. Offset armor plates were common on Kyzerian Tankheads, but they also developed a wiremesh cape that could be draped over tankheads.

Early shipheads had a hard time defending against small attack craft moving in close. Most of their weaponry wouldn't depress down far enough to target these nuisances. This led to the introduction of “Shipbreakers”, gigantic physical melee weapons wielded by these metal giants.

The Späher Panzerkopf was a Kyzerian scout tankhead developed during the ceasefire period. It was the first tankhead capable of running like a human, where there are periods where neither foot is touching the ground at all. This made it exceptionally fast for the period.

The Liberterran Coastal Wall

This was another fun collaboration with Ryan Barry (9monkeys on IG). Amazing lineart by him and colors by me.

Want to see more? Check out my upcoming narrative artbook TANKHEAD. Links in the comment below.

The Yamaichi Dominion did not have a mandated livery for its air force during the Neverwar. Each prefecture would paint their Jetheads in different ways, and some famous (or infamous) squadrons also adopted their own signature looks.

The nations of Tankhead did not spring forth fully formed at the start of the war. In many cities of the world, you’ll see modern mechanical marvels blend into the local traditional building style as technological advances outpaced urban renewal.

The Sherman Firefly is the quintessential Alliance Tankhead. The body of a Liberterran Tankhead mounting a cannon manufactured in Grand Britony as a stop gap measure. It proved highly effective and over four thousand were produced during the Neverwar.
