Erin told important, smart, balanced stories about Texas. This state benefitted from having her on watch.

And having Erin as a colleague made every day better. All of us are certainly lucky to have such a kind, generous friend. We'll miss you Erin and are cheering you on! đź’›

So many congrats to Elena Bruess for this important, thoughtfully reported story on the Fifth Ward cancer cluster. She asks: If city officials know contamination is a concern there and are working to relocate people, why aren't new residents being warned? houstonlanding.org/houston-greate…

ERCOT wanted to get more power plants running for winter, so they asked companies if they were willing to bring old coal- or gas-fired plants back online.

None were.

'Coverage of Texas so often seems to strip the place of its humanity and turn it into novelty instead, boiling us all down to football, guns and pickup trucks—their words—or treating the state’s diversity in thought and people as a new phenomenon'
