The disability tax credit asks all the wrong questions because it’s not designed for or to help disabled people. It’s to help the families of disabled people.

(It helps some disabled people, but not by design.)

You don’t fight for things because they are likely to happen. You fight because it’s worth fighting for. When enough people band together for the good of others, you can make change against the odds. Every day someone is fighting the odds for a worthy cause. It’s worth a try.

Even at the low monthly $, the DTC has a bar that explicitly excludes most of the people who need this benefit. The extremes of ability to function do not mean people can work if they don’t meet that bar. Bare minimum the CDB needs to include all disabled people on $ supports.

I guess yesterday was non-binary parents day. I did relatively little by accident so I will take that as a win. I celebrate both Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, so still two more days left. 😂 Happy day after to all the enby parents!

Consultations with an equity deserving group mean nothing if you ignore all the feedback.

As a frozen person, I love this. I’m thankfully not getting blood draws all the time right now, but this would be an excellent gift for someone who is or going through other treatments.

Thanks Mike Morrice for your hard work to support people with disabilities. I support your efforts for a higher CDB. And I’m pushing the Ford govt to more than double ODSP rates to end legislative poverty and to commit to no claw backs based on the CDB.

My daughter turns 13 in a few weeks and she’s my most favourite person in the world. I can’t believe I made her in my body and now she’s out in the world being awesome, but still not putting her dishes in the dishwasher. She’s a perfect teen.

I called Kamal Khera’s office this week and urged her to redo the qualification standards and processes to be more inclusive & accessible as well as raise the benefit amount. Disabled people on benefits in my ward need help and this falls short. I urge all councillors to call.

In 2021 the libs promised a CDB that would reduce poverty like the GIS and CCB. The GIS has a max of $1000/month/person.

Yesterday, the feds proposed a CDB with a max of $200/month, delayed until mid 2025, full of barriers.

This isn't what the disability community called for.

So weird that this was a restriction.
