Coming to and going from the hospital everyday not as a patient or the loved one of patient is an under appreciated blessing.

Postpartum is taking my nightly Colace with red wine.

Just had a grown woman tell me that childbirth is nothing compared to the 20 gauge IV she just had placed in her hand. I find this hard to believe.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year i.e. the last 8 weeks of the academic year when residents actually know how to do their jobs. Bliss.

The delivery of a healthy infant is the best amnestic in all of medicine. Onset is immediate. This is a fact.

I went into medicine so that when people ask me to do things I can say “I can’t, I’m on call” and not be questioned. Thoughts of an introvert.

It’s taken me 4 years of living with another person to definitively decide the biggest perk of having a partner is having someone to help you shove the comforter back inside the duvet after washing it.

Today someone told me with a straight face that COVID didn’t affect him very much. He was only intubated for a couple of days.

A single ladybug is cute. An army of them flying around your bathroom is not.

Got dinner with another resident friend tonight and while discussing some of the less glamorous aspects of being in medicine, the bartender interrupted and said “y’all must be in the restaurant industry.”

Similar but different.

I have a special place in my ❤️ for people who don’t care about electric bills and leave holiday lights on all night so I can enjoy them on my early am drive to work.
