The last week has been so hectic, I'm not even sure what day it is today! Our tour of the Falkland Islands continues and we delivered two Lantra courses today on behalf of Forestry Commission Vegetation Fire Operators knowledge and Wildfire Management Plan knowledge. Rob Gazzard
Today we delivered a Wildfire Management Plan training course in Fox Bay, West Falkland. We had a walk around the village looking at wildfire hazards then spent the day writing these into a Wildfire Management Plan. The training is provided by Forestry Commission. Rob Gazzard
We have successfully delivered 3 Lantra accredited Vegetation Fire courses over the past 2 days in Fox Bay, West Falkland. The candidates are land mangers and the training has been funded by Darwin Plus and delivered on behalf of Forestry Commission by WildfireTaC. Rob Gazzard
We have just completed our first full day on the Falklands. We have been preparing paperwork and kit ready to deliver our first Vegetation Fire course in Fox Bay on behalf of Forestry Commission. We are looking forward to sharing knowledge and skills. Rob Gazzard
I'm flying back to the Falklands today to deliver more training on behalf of Forestry Commission. Looking forward to sharing knowledge and learning more about the wildfire challenges faced by the islands.
During 2023 training and equipment for wildfires was delivered in the Falklands. This was funded by DEFRA and provided by Forestry Commission . These skills and equipment have been used on some of their wildfires. Thanks to FIRFS and Sea Lion Island for the photos. Rob Gazzard

However, a risk assessment for these huge piles of dead wood (potential bonfires) piled up against residents' back gardens might suggest that it isn't a good idea.
