After a day’s delay, I have just crossed the Rafah crossing to visit MSF International teams in the Strip. The sea of humanity as you enter is overwhelming, people are everywhere. A ground invasion of Rafah would be catastrophic and must not be allowed to happen.

We remain deeply concerned about our MSF International staff member who was detained at a checkpoint by Israeli forces while trying to leave Nasser hospital on Feb 15.

Israeli authorities confirmed he is in their custody. We call on them to treat him with dignity and ensure his wellbeing.

At any street corner and there are flimsy shelters for ’s displaced here in Rafah. No garbage collection, no sewage, lack of food and water. Aid trucks are stuck next door in Israel and Egypt. The desperation is growing. Only hope is a ceasefire and an end to this nightmare
