It was an absolute pleasure to work with you West Ham United Foundation We together proved how effectively Primary Care Networks can work with fabulous voluntary sector organisations such as yours to tackle difficult issues in our communities such as Knife Crime. Shame the funding ceased

GPs most 'discontented' among UK doctors, GMC survey finds - Pulse Today- More than a fifth of GPs are very or fairly likely to move abroad says the GMC survey. England has to get much better at valuing & retaining Drs before we lose our dwindling numbers pulsetoday.co.uk/news/workforce…

Great points here (as expected!) by Jacob Lant “Access is far more nuanced than getting a same day appointment” Great point also about changes in the GP contract needed to help GPs serve the needs of the local populations- there’s never going to be a QOF domain for knife crime!

“We would expect any provider organisation to performance manage itself. Our role (in ICB) is to help PCN clinical directors enter that space”
Seems a lifetime ago (though 4 yrs!) where CDs role was to creatively serve their local communities, not performance manage practices

The mental health support is an important point here and currently being done by GPs. Which of course reduces access for other patients trying to access GPs for primary care problems. The larger gap in the system though is assessing deterioration in conditions especially MSK ones

“Almost a quarter of those aged 17 to 19 report a probable mental health issue.
This will affect a whole generation’s ability to work” Yet Children & Adolescent mental health services are so bare, waiting lists are up to a year- there’s an obvious connection!!

Female GP leader numbers growing... but still work to do-Only 32/110 GPs on ICBs are female. 1/3 PCN CDs are female. 57% of GPs are female. I have been told by several male leaders that they feel the system is biased against them- the facts say otherwise pulsetoday.co.uk/analysis/speci…

Really opened my eyes to the power and value the voluntary sector can bring to healthcare when we work together in true integrated fashion. One of the highlights of my career so far was leading the PCN project in Newham with West Ham United Foundation to reduce knife crime in our teenagers

Every mum wants to feed their children healthy meals, wanting to feed our children is a very primal instinct for all mums (I still do it with my 21 & 20 year olds!) Imagine not having a kitchen to cook in- on this Eid celebration day, please sign the petition so every child eats

Palestinians in Gaza are celebrating the first day of Eid outside flattened mosques and among the rubble of their homes.

As Eid al-Fitr begins, we must rediscover something very simple: we are all human beings on one planet — and we all deserve to live in peace.

“short term objectives such as reducing hospital waiting lists, are crowding out the need to tackle health inequalities” And of course tackling health inequalities needs more than just the health service- the clue was in the name “ Integrated” CBs- what went wrong? Great thread

On the last day of Ramadan, I am so blessed to be able to help provide primary healthcare in a safe environment for my patients. No healthcare facilities anywhere in the world should be attacked during conflict.

Is there really spare capacity in the private sector when it comes to healthcare staff? If Wes pays the staff the rates they earn in the private sector to stop the 2 tier system, could that not lead more NHS staff to work in the private sector? Why not invest in the NHS properly?

How sexism affects female GPs' career progression:Pulse Today-It’s still different for women- Only 2/5th of women GPs are partners compared to 2/3 of men.Not everyone wants partnership but it should be a choice. And we don’t all want to do women’s health! pulsetoday.co.uk/analysis/speci…

This is a hospital. Its purpose is to save lives. The whole world stood by and watched this happen. On these last few days of Ramadan may we be protected by our Creator for not being able to do more. “To kill one life is to kill the whole of humanity”

We repeatedly here “the single handed GP is struggling” this is a myth driven by political agendas- single handed GPs are obviously responsible for all aspects of their practice so may work longer hours but I don’t know of any evidence they struggle more than other GPs
