Busy days on the fast ice in East Greenland.

We sampled & measured the sea ice, collected areal observations, and registered icebergs.
Ice thickness was ~1.5 m in level areas.

Much of this will likely break up in the next weeks. Dynamics seen in Sentinel-1.

During our annual cruise in Fram Strait #FramstraitNPI , we collect sea ice data and samples of the fast ice east of Greenland at 79N @oceanseaicenpi ➡️ This time together with CIRFA_SFI to also validate radar images from ESA Earth Observation

Iceberg discussion in action at #IGS2023

Great first day at #IGS2023 here in Bremerhaven.

There were good discussions at our iceberg poster. We found that including backscatter statistics reduces the errors of the Sentinel-1 iceberg area prediction, with reference to Sentinel-2 iceberg area sizes.
