A most interesting chat with my GP this am about my recent hospital fiasco and infection control more generally. He told me the practice had argued strenuously for continued protections but met “enormous political pressure from above” to discontinue all.

A week since discharged. Text arrives from GP saying bloods done by Rheumatology are fine. Except I haven’t been seen there since March 2023 ⁉️No acknowledgment of recent inpatient stay & follow up? I think healthcare as we knew it is over. ‘You Do You’ creeping into everything…

1st trip out to put in a prescription. Food delivery workers need to understand dropped kerbs are not ramps to #PavementPark on tactile paving, obstructing this older pedestrian & this wheelchair user left with insufficient room to turn to cross. 😤😡

Bus stop bypasses. An example of the nonsense some non disabled ppl propose. Note it’s always the disabled person who is supposed to change/ adapt to solve a situation - in this case blind people turning into majorettes, performing some form of light show 🙄 #Ableism

So the wedding I went to a week ago, friends report ‘catching colds’ at the reception. Good job then I only went to the service, masked & away from others, before being whisked away, Cinderella like by car service back home. How I have to roll only to be failed by NHS #NewWave 📈

And of course, during my week in the alternate reality of hospital, fighting for safe access to care, the daily grind of disability discrimination in the wider world continues unabated…
There really are no days off from being disabled wherever you are !

I am home now. Testing begins. If positive, my rage at being failed by a both careless & uncaring system will find every available outlet for expression…

Had scan, but not seen doctor. But my respite in the sanctuary of surgical safety is at an end. Of course it is. It’s a surgical bed & I’m just a perfectly well, hospital refugee. Where to put me ? Please let me just go outside again. I’m becoming allergic to people. 🥲
