Doctors still face up to 14 years in prison if they provide abortion care outside the very specific circumstances laid out in Irish law

Abortion is healthcare, and no part of its provision should be criminalised

6 years on from Repeal, and we hear from someone in Ireland every other day.

But why are people still being forced to travel for abortions? 🧵

5 years on from the abortion referendum and still women are travelling abroad to access care because they are excluded here. The documentary from Aoife Hegarty is giving those people a badly needed voice. This is not what we voted for.

The Irish government clearly must take action on abortion laws. Until then, our brilliant helpline team will be here to help anyone who has to travel

Compelling expose of appalling, heart-wrenching impacts of the gaps & failures of our law and services, including non-regulation of horrendous rogue 'counselling' agencies.

The Govt must act now to implement the recommendations.

We were very moved by the stories on last night.

We're also so proud of our brilliant helpline volunteer Vicki, who talked about the work we do to ease some of the burden on those who have to travel.

If you missed it, catch up here: rte.ie/player/movie/r…

Today is Global Day to Destigmatise Abortions. 5 years on from the implementation of abortion legislation in the Republic of Ireland, we are still demanding for them to be free, safe, legal, local and accessible.

Our Co-convenor took part in the demonstration in Dublin on Saturday. Great to see such huge support for accessible housing and healthcare, and an end to racism and hate.

Many voted YES to stop exporting these tragic cases, and yet 5 years later little has changed. The Review Recommendations will be debated soon. We need to send a strong message to our TDs, we want accessible care at home. No one should be forced to travel.
