Three of my colleagues UMass Amherst Department of History were arrested for peaceful protest. We should all fear and oppose the ideology of administrative authoritarianism at work here & many other places, which is deeply destructive to the purpose of higher education and antithetical to democracy.

I very much needed to hear this: building a group of people who can have shared knowledge matters to someone.

She also remembers feeling all-or-nothing, with us or against us. She recalls herself then, and now, with love.

She tells me that a strong part of her experience was the networks (by mimeograph!) of making and sharing resources with other student groups at other campuses. She says that realizing that there are networks who also care and work for people changed her life.

Friends, may we link arms against this militarization of campuses. We needn’t agree on much else to speak together in the broadest, most common sense tradition against pitting men with guns against civilians.

it is so deeply intellectually dishonest and disingenuous. and very disgusting. 18 year olds with umbrellas are not the aggressors against police with assault weapons. it is disproportionate in every single way. full stop.

with police in riot gear, military grade weapons and military tactics like shutting off water access. it literally does not make any sense to respond to people sitting on lawns with violence, regardless of how you feel about *why* they are sitting there
