“People have the right to get an education, the right to get a degree, the right to walk across campus safely without fear of being attacked.”

Except Palestinians, right @potus? Their universities are bombed to dust.
But they’re not people to you, as your actions have shown.

'Order must prevail'

The order of things is facilitating genocide, so no, it ought not prevail. Also, when your campaign strategy hinges on the fact that your opponent is a threat to democracy, speaking and acting like an authoritarian doesn't exactly help your cause.

There are multiple issues and that’s ok.

One is the urgent need for the genocide to end. For a ceasefire. And for lasting liberation for Palestinians.

Another is the deepening authoritarian attacks on academic spaces and the right of university community members to protest.

Grateful to my kua’ana (sister & elder) Kēhaulani for inviting me to Wesleyan to give this talk yesterday despite attempts to cancel it. Room was packed with students. Visited the encampment here & will do so again today. Proud of our students.

I want to remind people that the adultification of Palestinian children is the same tactics that have been used against Black and Brown kids here in the US.
They always use the same tactics and always will. Adultification and dehumanization.

All of our oppression is connected.

How fucking dare you. I lost family on Oct 7 and the rest survived a massacre. They are in the streets every week in Tel Aviv fighting for a ceasefire and an end to occupation. Yet here you are, promoting hatred against Jews and calling US the collaborators.

All the people in this photo are the same generation - activists and segregationists. Stop saying youth automatically breeds enlightenment. It doesn't. Young people will not save us. Rather, they will choose whether or not to join what King called 'the beautiful struggle.”

This is life is for migrant labor in Canada, the US, and elsewhere as well. Tied to a specific employer and deported when no longer needed. Canada's system is considered the gold standard to which countries like Isreal aspire.

A thoughtful piece from the Globe!

'...universities did divest from companies doing business in South Africa, and in recent years, many have also divested from investments in the fossil-fuel industry after pressure from students and faculty.'
