In many parts of the world, the social stigma around menstruation and a lack of access to sanitary products present serious obstacles to girls’ education.
On #MenstrualHygieneDay , learn how organizations in our community are working to change this:
The FootprintsFoundation provides sanitary pads and puberty education courses for girls in South Africa. “We aim to break the silence and change social norms around menstruation,” says the program’s founder Eric Mlambo.
In Uganda, Asante Africa Foundation has provided pads to girls like Sharon, Robinah, and Annet, who had never seen or used pads before because their parents couldn’t afford them. The girls say that receiving menstrual products has helped make them more comfortable and confident.
