The FootprintsFoundation provides sanitary pads and puberty education courses for girls in South Africa. “We aim to break the silence and change social norms around menstruation,” says the program’s founder Eric Mlambo.

In Uganda, Asante Africa Foundation has provided pads to girls like Sharon, Robinah, and Annet, who had never seen or used pads before because their parents couldn’t afford them. The girls say that receiving menstrual products has helped make them more comfortable and confident.

Study Hall Educational Foundation in India is focused on eliminating the stigma around menstruation—and engaging boys around this issue is an important part of their efforts. This month, students are learning to sew their own sanitary napkins at home.

Girl Up Uganda is supporting the menstrual health and hygiene of adolescent girls during COVID-19 by including sanitary pads as part of the relief packages they are delivering to families in Kampala.
