Speaking on the BBC R4 Today programme, health secretary Steve Barclay claimed NHS consultants receive tax-free pensions.

This is incorrect. Pensions for consultants are subject to the same tax rules that apply to all pensioners.

In 2021 this figure was approximately 157,800.

In a twenty-year period there were over 83,000 fewer hospital beds in the UK.

In 2021, France offered the UK asylum processing facility in Calais. That facility would have then meant safe passage to the UK. The Tories rejected the offer.

Failure to provide safe passage should be considered a crime against humanity.

A 100 year old man raises £30m for the National Health Service and the money gets used to buy a rich couple a spa complex. That's the perfect metaphor for private sector involvement in the NHS.
