Hedgerows - Thanks to David Larkin, who almost single-handed, replanted shrubs and watered, to re-establish hedgerows along all our fence boundaries. The UK has dug up many of its orchards and now imports 70% of its apples, often from across the world. Planting apple trees in our gardens and communities - and protecting those we have - can cut food miles, soak up CO2, help wildlife, and can help save traditional varieties🍎

What an enjoyable Spring Open Day! We’ve had a ball! Lots of lovely conversations with visitors, tasty home made food, one rather sleepy visitor resting on a Viburnum flower and the sun 🌞 stayed with us (mostly)!

Please don’t mow or spray the dandelions. They are a lifeline for pollinators including bees, butterflies, hoverflies. They support over 50 insect species. Our little film shows the life in a small patch 🐝

Thanks to all our volunteers today, we have carefully weeded a 30m stretch of Blackwall Lane and cut back foliage. Overhanging canopy remains to shade and cool the path for users. #CommunityEngagement
