Just like the apostles, people will sometimes get “infuriated” with us simply for speaking the ways of God. Do not respond harshly. Entrust them to the Lord and continue to pray for them. But, never stop speaking the truth in charity and clothed with the love of Christ.

It was my privilege to ordain 12 seminarians to the transitional diaconate today! Please join me in congratulating and praying for these new deacons who, God willing, will be ordained to the priesthood next year.

On the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, we ask for his grace to echo Mary’s “yes” to God‘s holy will even when it is difficult and challenging. May we find strength in the angel’s message to Mary: “Do not be afraid…for nothing will be impossible for God.”

As he did with the disciples on the road to Emmaus, Jesus walks with us each day. He enlightens, consoles, and guides us. Realizing we never travel alone, we are able to respond to the challenges that come our way. So, we repeat the words of the disciples: “Stay with us, Lord!”

The Gospel for Mass this Easter Wednesday is the beautiful story of two disciples on the road to Emmaus who encounter a stranger they later recognize as Jesus risen from the dead. Let us ponder this rich story as we continue our walk with the Lord during this Octave of Easter.

My hope is that the court will hold the FDA accountable for placing abortion advocacy above women’s health.
