Line in the sand. With Africa's longest coastline, you'd expect Somalia to have lots of beautiful beaches - and you'd be right. The best part is many you have all to yourself. Central Mogadishu's beach is jammed with peeps, but this palm-lined one south of the city is all yours.

Cooking with ginger today? Chances are it was grown in Nigeria, Africa's top producer of the fibrous spice (at 553K tons annually way ahead of #2 Cameroon's 79K tons) and second in the world only to India.

On today's World Art Day, saluting Africa ballpen artists who get around expensive paints and canvas costs like Ghana's Enam Basokah, drawing photorealistic portraits with an ink pen, extraordinary skill and an artist's eye.

Ghana's Black Star Monument must be remembered on today's International Day of Monuments and Sites - the first Independence Monument of the post-colonial era. Completed on time for Ghana's Independence from Britain in 1957, it is still a commanding structure.

Today is the 70th World Art Day, started in 1954 by the International Association of Art. When it comes to Africa's art wealth, where to begin? How about the return of Nigeria's Benin Bronzes looting when the Benin Kingdom was ransacked by Europeans but now returning home.

I know you'll be suffering a sleepless night wondering what is Africa's longest aerial tramway!? But that's why I'm here! - to tell you it's South Africa's 1.2km Hartbeespoort Aerial Cableway. Now if I could only answer why anyone would want to see Hartbeespoort from the air.πŸš‘πŸ™„
