Year 1 have loved going to Featherbank Forest every Friday morning! Last week, we challenged ourselves to find as many different types of plant as we could and identify their stems, leaves, flowers and roots.

In year 6 Art and Design we are exploring product packaging. We have been given the task of redesigning food packaging. Today we looked at our products and explored the packaging of our competitors and how me might change our design to stand out.

In Year 5 Design and Technology today, we explored the pulley mechanism. Next week…. gears! We will then put our knowledge together to design a simple task for a task based game.

Year 2 are looking at plants in Science. We have started by setting up an experiment to investigate plant growth. We found out that plants need the correct conditions to grow strong. These are water, the correct temperature, sunlight and soil.

Year 4 enjoyed our special assembly this week delivered by Energy Heroes. Inspired by Earth Day the children worked together to come up with creative solutions to reduce plastic usage.

Year 5 have started the Summer Term with their new science topic on Earth and Space. We learned about our solar system by going outside to simulate the movement of the planets.

Year Six have made some inspiring posters for Earth Day ready for our march later on!

Reception had a fantastic time exploring the Bee-bots. We explored algorithms and programmed the Bee-bots to make them move.

CRACK, BANG, BOOM! Year 3 have made an explosive start to their new topic by building volcanoes!

Year 4 enjoyed a fabulous Roman day today! We made Roman leaf headbands, went marching like real Roman soldiers around the school in formation, aced a Roman-themed quiz and finished it off with watching Horrible Histories!

This week the children wowed us with their drama performances and this weekend staff and families went to see Mrs Sowden in The Hunchback of Notre Dame in Harrogate! We're so proud of you!

It's not just book week for the children this week at Featherbank! Mrs Stewardson packaged up mystery books with intriguing descriptions for staff to pick!

Year 1 have loved learning all about animals including humans so far this term! This week we have been labelling the parts of a human body.

In History, Year 4 have been learning all about Roman settlements! We worked in pairs to create large-scale maps of what the settlements would have looked like, using clues scattered around the classroom.

Year 2 have had an exciting start to this half term. We all went to Space Camp! We had a go at lots of physical and scientific activities to get us ready for space. We even got to moon walk.

Over the last month, Year 5 have worked with Lily from NorthernArtsFactory. They learned choreography that led to a spooktacular performance, dancing to the theme tune of Ghostbusters! Here's a sneek peak of their performance

Reception had lots of fun in Featherbank Forest. We collected twigs and stones for our art project.🌳🍃

Y3 have had a great few weeks of learning! Here we are exploring forces and motion in science and making stone age cave scenes in art!

This week in Year 6, we were visited by Victorian artist Ford Madox Brown who came to talk to us all about their portrait 'Work' - painted to celebrate the efforts of manual labourers in society.
