In 1932, the course of nuclear #physics took a new turn when an atom⚛️ was split for the 1st time using a particle accelerator. The discovery has helped scientists understand how to manipulate particles on a subatomic level to better understand the structure & function of matter.

The next generation of nuclear power reactors will require new kinds of fuel such as high assay low enriched uranium or ‘HALEU fuel’. However, HALEU is only currently produced in two countries.
