2024 TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE — The most stunning natural phenomenon on Earth, a total solar eclipse, swept across North America today. Here’s the entire sequence as seen from Presque Isle, Maine, under crystal clear skies.

The pic we've been waiting for! Odysseus on the moon.

The moment of landing. You can see Odysseus' broken landing leg and the blast from its 3D printed engine spewing lunar regolith (dirt and rocks) everywhere.

Imagine you built an experimental payload and it is going on a test ride to the Moon. Then the spacecraft engineers ask if they can use your *payload* to *navigate* for *lunar landing*, something never planned for, and they write a software patch in lunar orbit, and it WORKS🔥

Kristin Fisher Yup. This was next level. A real time patch of autonomous landing software to utilize lasers from our NASA Langley Research Center Navigation Doppler Lidar (NDL). All done during that extra sightseeing orbit around the Moon. As a colleague said - This team are founding members of a new club.

This is like Apollo 13, but for robotic landers. A desperate in-flight fix. Odysseus’ navigation system wasn’t working. So Intuitive Machines swapped it out for an experimental NASA system that just happened to be on board and…it worked. Wild.
